“We only stayed at the Mentari Hotel for one night and arrived at 10.30 pm so we didn’t really get to experience it properly. However the staff were welcoming and helpful and the room was large and clean, if a little bare. The pool looked nice although a bit cramped. Breakfast was nice – you could have the standard nasi goreng (fried rice) or mie goreng (noodles) or order a western breakfast of eggs, bacon etc. It is located in the north of Sanur so not that near all the main restaurants and shops, however it was very convenient for us as we were getting the boat to Nusa Lembongan which leaves from a hotel which is practically next door. My only reservation about the hotel is the fact that there is a lot of vegetation. While this looks nice it is a bit of a magnet for mosquitos.”

Good low budget option for exploring Bali

I booked this hotel as was scuba diving in Bali. As this was my first time to the island I did not know what to expect. My expectations were not high as the price paid was low compared to other Bali hotels. I was however pleasantly suprised. The hotel had friendly staff and the room was clean. The large bed was very comfortable and the aircon unit did not keep me awake at nights. I ate at the restaurant on one occasion and the food was reasonable. The downside to this hotel was the location. It was located in the middle of a dark alley. I found this a bit intimidating at night walking to the street but discovered it was safe. Also there were not many amenties close by. I ate at the Jazz Grill cafe (good food and service) which was about 5 minutes walk away. Overall I would say this is a good low budget hotel. It served as a good base to tour round Bali. Stay away if you are looking for party central.

My stay in the hotel was somewhat spoiled by renovation of the room beneath mine. So I had to listen sounds of the hammers throughout the day. Otherwise hotel is good and quiet, kitchen is good and of course free wi-fi is good thing – I had finally a chance to publish some photos and talk to friends via Skype.

Small and nice hotel with good kitchen

Beach near is too busy.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Boats to Lembongan island start from the beach near the hotel.
